Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
-- with its eternal flame. A triple arch is all that remains of the Saxon Palace colonnade, destroyed in World War II. It houses the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. On November 2, 1925, an
unknown victim of the defense of Lvov (1918-19) was interred here. Names of battles are engraved on the pillars. An
honor guard stands there day and night. Ogród Saski (Saxon Garden) lies
behind the monument. Saxon Garden is Warsaw's oldest public park, established in the
18th century. It is all that remains of the Saxon Palace.
